MILANO – Nel saggio, appena pubblicato dagli Editori Laterza e dal Club alpino italiano, l’autore riscrive la storia dell’alpinismo, mettendo al centro quelli che ritiene essere i veri protagonisti, finora dimenticati, della frequentazione dell’alta montagna: gli abitanti delle Alpi Milano Chi ha inventato l’alpinismo? Davvero è cominciato tutto con la salita di Francesco Petrarca al Mount Ventoux?
Oppure sono stati gli scienziati illuministi del Settecento? O, piuttosto, i viaggiatori ed esploratori borghesi del Nord Europa? E se invece fossero stati gli uomini e le donne che da sempre abitano le Alpi a diffondere la passione per le vette? Sono queste le domande a cui risponde lo storico Andrea Zannini nel suo libro Controstoria dell’alpinismo, appena uscito con Editori Laterza e Club alpino italiano nella collana “i Robinson/Letture”, serie “Tracce” . La storia della nascita, o invenzione, dell’alpinismo è raccontata secondo uno schema che si ripete uguale da due secoli. All’origine dell’interesse degli europei per le vette delle montagne vi sarebbe la grande scoperta razionalista delle Alpi quali laboratorio della natura: una rivoluzione che avrebbe schiuso all’uomo territori inesplorati che le rozze popolazioni alpine popolavano di superstizioni. La passione settecentesca per l’alta montagna avrebbe quindi aperto la strada alla conquista cittadina delle cime e all’invenzione della pratica ricreativa dell’alpinismo. Nel suo saggio Zannini illustra un nuovo punto di vista sulle Alpi e sulla storia della frequentazione dei territori montani , ricostruendo decine di salite compiute tra Seicento e Ottocento da cacciatori, raccoglitori di cristalli, artigiani, garzoni di monasteri, notabili di villaggi e religiosi (cattolici e riformati).
L’autore intende mostrare come l’alpinismo non sia stato inventato «né dai curiosi illuministi settecenteschi né dalle borghesie europee in ascesa, ma trova le sue radici nella cultura e nella società alpina, e i suoi “inventori” nelle popolazioni che hanno abitato le nostre Alpi». Controstoria dell’alpinismo rovescia dunque la tradizionale narrazione sulla nascita dell’alpinismo riscrivendola dalle basi, con tutti i suoi eventi fondatori che assumono una luce completamente diversa. A partire dall’assalto con scale e pioli al Mont Aiguille nel 1492 o dalla salita di Petrarca al Ventoux.Al centro del suo racconto Zannini mette gli abitanti delle Alpi, definendoli i veri protagonisti, finora dimenticati, della storia della frequentazione dell’alta montagna. Have you ever considered about adding a little bit more than just your articles? I mean, what you say is valuable and all.
