Venerdì 29 marzo 2024 alle ore 21:00, dopo la liturgia pasquale in Cattedrale, presieduta dal S.E. Mons. A. Turazzi, vescovo della Diocesi di San Marino e Montefeltro, si darà avvio all’antichissima sacra rappresentazione del Venerdì Santo a Pennabilli, ossia la tradizionale “Processione dei Giudei”.
La rievocazione storica che si svolge a Pennabilli da secoli il giorno del Venerdì Santo è un evento religioso che commemora la passione e crocifissione di Cristo. Dal 2018 è entrata a far parte dell’elenco delle Manifestazioni Storiche della Regione Emilia Romagna. Ogni anno l’intero borgo medievale di Pennabilli si cala in un’atmosfera d’altri tempi. Il paese viene illuminato solo da fiaccole, da antichi lampioncini artigianali in carta colorata e da bracieri infuocati. Durante la processione, agli uomini delle confraternite vestiti con i tradizionali abiti, spetta il compito di trasportare a spalla una rarissima scultura in cartapesta policroma datata 1631, raffigurante la Madonna e il Cristo morto. Il gruppo scultoreo è accompagnato in processione da preghiere e canti popolari che richiamano antichi ritmi e melodie della tradizione. Particolarmente suggestivo è il canto “Stabat Mater”. Assieme ai fedeli in corteo partecipano alla processione in costume: il Cristo oppresso dal peso della Croce, il Cireneo, le pie donne, i soldati romani in marcia al rullo dei tamburi e gli incappucciati. I costumi dei soldati romani, generalmente chiamati “Giudei”, sono particolarmente importanti poiché si ispirano alle guardie romane presenti nel ciclo pittorico di Piero della Francesca “La Leggenda della vera Croce” (1452-1466) posto all’interno della Basilica di San Francesco ad Arezzo.Il corteo, dopo aver fatto un lungo e suggestivo percorso, attraverso il centro storico e la piazza, arriva al monastero delle Monache Agostiniane di Sant’Antonio da Padova e sosta brevemente dentro la piccola chiesa. Le alture della Rupe, ai piedi dell’antico monastero agostiniano, richiamano il Golgota, in un contesto naturale fortemente solenne e suggestivo, illuminato solo da torce e falò. Qui viene rappresentata la Rievocazione della Passione e Morte di Gesù a cura della Filodrammatica Pennese. Questa tradizione, che si mantiene viva da tempo remotissimo, non è un semplice corteo di figuranti né solo una funzione religiosa, ma un evento sospeso tra rito e festa, tra mistero e fascino, che diventa per tanti, anche per chi capita a Pennabilli in questa notte, una esperienza da ricordare.
