Serviva come roccaforte per il re polacco Boleslav il Coraggioso, che all’epoca occupava la Moravia e vi aveva stazionato i suoi soldati”, ha detto Schenk RPI. Secondo l’archeologo, l’oggetto è molto probabilmente costituito da un osso di cavallo, probabilmente uno dello stinco. “L’oggetto ha una forma specifica. Da un lato, è curvato in una punta che ha un foro e c’è un altro foro sul retro. Servivano per infilare una cinghia, che serviva per fissare il pattino ad una scarpa o ad una slitta di legno”, ha detto Schenk. Secondo Schenk, le persone che utilizzavano questo oggetto circa 1.000 anni fa non usavano le lame per lo sport o il tempo libero ma semplicemente per spostarsi nei gelidi mesi invernali.“Piuttosto che pattinare, si trascinavano lungo la superficie ghiacciata con l’aiuto di un bastone o due. Avrebbero anche attaccato le lame alle slitte per trasportare un carico di merci attraverso l’acqua ghiacciata”, ha detto Schenk. Il pattino d’osso non è il primo oggetto simile trovato a Přerov. Nel 2009, ad esempio, in città è stato scoperto un manufatto simile. Inoltre, in altre parti d’Europa sono stati trovati pattini da ghiaccio fatti di ossa di bovini o di cavalli. “I pattini in osso di Přerov sono quasi identici ai pattini recuperati nel nord Europa, ad esempio a Birka in Svezia, un sito archeologico molto famoso dell’era vichinga, e anche a York in Inghilterra o a Dublino in Irlanda”, ha detto Schenk.
