Alle porte della città un’ampia area destinata alle coltivazioni di ortaggi e piccoli alberi di frutta di fatto diventa una vera e propria palestra di vita e di integrazione sociale, multietnica e culturale. I prodotti della terra che vengono coltivati e poi raccolti hanno un altro sapore, il sapore della felicità e della vita. Il terreno, di proprietà comunale,124 appezzamenti di 100 metri quadrati ciascuno assegnati ai richiedenti attraverso precise regole e disposizioni, è gestito dalla Cooperativa “La Rondine a Maccarello” che ha sempre creduto nei valori dell’agricoltura sociale attraverso laboratori con soggetti svantaggiati sia fisici che mentali già dal 2013. Luca Varzi, Marco Bini, Giorgio Ascani e Mirko Pietosi, assegnatari di due appezzamenti di terreno da parte del comune, rappresentanti della Cooperativa sociale “La Rondine a Maccarello”, il lunedì, martedì e giovedì, sotto lo sguardo vigile degli operatori Giacomo Augusto Cacciatori e Luca Montanucci, seguono tutta la produzione mettendo in pratica le competenze acquisite accettando i consigli dei più esperti anziani e pensionati che animano il polmone verde “bio” della città tanto caro alla comunità locale. Non sono due semplici orti quei due appezzamenti da qualche mese utilizzati per sviluppare esperienze di coltivazione della terra rivolte alle persone con disabilità e favorire lo scambio intergenerazionale con gli anziani assegnatari dei terreni, 90 uomini, in media ultrasettantenni e 34 donne che stanno sempre più diventando protagoniste. Si tratta di una concreta politica di sostegno alle persone svantaggiate, che non vuole essere meramente assistenzialistica ma di costruzione di una progettualità mirata a raggiungere la più ampia autonomia e indipendenza possibile, una delle prime in Italia che risale agli anni ’80, all’allora sindaco Giuseppe Pannacci, che insieme al consiglio comunale dell’epoca e con il lavoro del dirigente Ivano Alunni e poi di Gualtiero Angelini (alla cui memoria sono intitolati) furono artefici della creazione degli orti, dal 2010 alla fine del 2023 gestiti dal comitato di gestione composto da cinque componenti e presieduto dal presidente uscente, Silvano Anderini. Le novità, contenute nel regolamento numero 31, approvato dal consiglio comunale del 18 aprile 2016 e modificato con deliberazione consiliare numero 56 del 10 Luglio 2023, non finiscono qui. Per poter far condividere questa bella esperienza ad altri soggetti anziani, magari soli ed impossibilitati a raggiungere gli orti è allo studio un servizio gratuito di trasporto ed assistenza della Cooperativa Agricola Sociale La Rondine a Maccarello a cui è stata affidata la gestione degli orti sociali: un modo davvero originale ed inclusivo per poter consentire anche a chi non può spostarsi da casa di piantare qualche ortaggio in compagnia. L’assegnazione ha durata triennale, con possibilità di rinnovo per analogo periodo, e comporta il versamento al comitato di gestione di un contributo di 12 euro all’anno per le spese generali che rimane inalterato (cifra davvero simbolica). “Abbiamo introdotto la possibilità di una gestione esterna degli orti, in questo caso alla Cooperativa “La Rondine a Maccarello” per ottimizzare anche l’utilizzo delle risorse che il comune mette a disposizione annualmente”, ha dichiarato l’assessore alle Politiche Sociali, Benedetta Calagreti. “C’è poi una modifica a cui tengo particolarmente – ha proseguito Calagreti – che è quella di destinare due appezzamenti a finalità sociali, dando vita a progettualità come in questo caso straordinario che coinvolge ragazzi con disabilità e consente agli anziani di mettere a disposizione la propria esperienza. Qui ogni giorno si scrivono bellissime pagine di vita quotidiana di amore, amicizia e laboriosità che rappresentano un vanto per tutta la nostra comunità”. Gli orti sociali di Città di Castello sono oramai una realtà ultra decennale che è sempre stata un forte riferimento per i pensionati del comune che ha sempre sostenuto e incentivato questo progetto. Nell’ottica di un sempre maggiore sviluppo dal 2024 la gestione degli orti sociali è stata affidata alla Cooperativa Agricola Sociale La Rondine a Maccarello. Nata nel 2015 la Cooperativa ha sempre avuto come suoi obbiettivi da un lato la produzione di prodotti biologici, dall’altro favorire l’inserimento lavorativo di soggetti svantaggiati. Dal 2018 la Cooperativa ha sviluppato una serie di progetti volti a sviluppare competenze ad un gruppo di giovani disabili che ha portato nel 2024 ad una vera e propria assunzione lavorativa. I ragazzi oramai da alcuni anni sono protagonisti di attività nel territorio tra tutti ricordiamo il progetto “Raccolti di Comunità” e “Siamo in buone Mani” dove attivamente hanno portato il loro contributo con vere e proprie azioni lavorative. “L’affidamento degli orti sociali per noi è molto importante perché ci vede ancora una volta protagonisti della comunità attraverso uno scambio intergenerazionale – ha affermato Marco Romanelli presidente della Cooperativa La Rondine a Maccarello – dove si va oltre il concetto di disabilità e di terza età, ma si parla di persone, persone che rendono possibile il successo di progetti per la Comunità. L’impegno del gruppo di ragazzi durante la settimana permette non solo di rafforzare le loro competenze, ma anche nel creare legami e relazioni con i pensionati presenti presso gli orti, possiamo definirlo uno scambio di saperi reciproco“. “Attraverso gli orti sociali del Comune di Città di Castello abbiamo avuto la conferma che l’agricoltura sociale è inclusiva, partecipata e condivisa, dove ad ogni persona è data la gestione di un piccolo appezzamento di terreno e non pensa solo al proprio orto, ma si mette a disposizione degli altri. Sarebbe certamente bello poter portare questa filosofia al di fuori dell’agricoltura nella vita di tutti i giorni, dove non deve sempre prevalere l’egoismo, ma il voler aiutare gli altri”, ha concluso Luciano Veschi, Presidente della Cooperativa La Rondine. Per festeggiare questo nuovo corso il comune di Citta’ di Castello ed i nuovi gestori degli orti “solidali” hanno organizzato una merenda con tutti i protagonisti per giovedi 4 Giugno alle ore 17,30 fra le zucchine e i pomodori, per rendere ancora più vero e sentito questo progetto “verde” di vita insieme.
