L’Osservatorio nazionale incidenti in montagna, promosso dal Club alpino italiano si sofferma, nelle sue raccomandazioni di sicurezza, sul corretto utilizzo delle “catenelle” o “ramponcini”. La raccomandazione è oggi più che mai necessaria, in seguito alla constatazione che, in alcuni incidenti anche mortali avvenuti nelle ultime settimane, gli escursionisti sono scivolati nonostante utilizzassero questo tipo di attrezzature. «L’Osservatorio Nazionale Incidenti in Montagna raccomanda, a chiunque utilizza “catenelle” o “ramponcini”, di attenersi scrupolosamente alle limitazioni di impiego indicate dal costruttore del dispositivo prestando attenzione anche negli apparentamente semplici attraversamenti di nevai e accumuli di neve», afferma il coordinatore Alberto Pirovano. «Questa raccomandazione è espressa nell’interesse dell’incolumità personale dei praticanti e per alleviare lo sforzo degli operatori addetti al soccorso d’emergenza», conclude. Prima di tutto, si legge nelle raccomandazioni, è importante ribadire che i ramponcini devono essere impiegati con limitazioni rispetto ai terreni ripidi e quindi solo su pendii con inclinazioni inferiori a quanto indicato nel manuale di istruzione del costruttore (generalmente meno di 20°, ovvero meno del 35% di pendenza), e comunque non oltre inclinazioni modeste (meno di 22°-27°, ovvero inferiori al 40%-50% di pendenza), il tutto ovviamente in proporzione all’abilità individuale. Allo stesso tempo, è necessario utilizzare i ramponcini solo su pendii in cui sia possibile l’arresto in caso di scivolata, in funzione della conformazione del terreno. Tutte queste limitazioni devono essere prese in considerazione, proprio perchè i ramponcini sono caratterizzati da una serie di specificità: minima sporgenza delle punte, moderata adesione torsionale e bassa adattabilità alla taglia della calzatura.

Si tratta di un’iniziativa promossa e finanziata dal Club Alpino Italiano, con il supporto dei fondi del Ministero del Turismo. L’Osservatorio raccoglie ed analizza i dati degli incidenti in montagna, evidenziando correlazioni e nessi di causalità ricorrenti. Composto da un gruppo multidisciplinare di esperti chiamati a studiare le caratteristiche degli incidenti per restituire indicazioni e raccomandazioni di prevenzione, oltre che per supportare l’attività di indagine degli organi preposti, opera in collaborazione con diversi enti, forze di polizia, Istituti universitari e associazioni. L’Osservatorio è quindi una struttura altamente tecnica e scientifica che si pone l’obiettivo strategico di ridurre l’accidentalità, fornendo elementi di conoscenza scientificamente validati ai decisori e agli educatori.
