Domenica 11 Agosto appuntamento a Sarteano dalle ore 21:00 con la Tratta dei Bossoli, il rito d’apertura ai festeggiamenti dell’amata festa del Saracino.A inaugurare la serata il Corteo dei Ceri e l’offerta a San Rocco, patrono della Giostra, seguito dall’investitura dei Capitani delle Contrade, lo svelamento del Palio e dalla Cerimonia di Estrazione, che andrà a stabilire l’ordine della gara che si terrà il giorno di Ferragosto.
Conto alla rovescia per la Giostra del Saracino a Sarteano: Le cinque contrade iniziano a fremere, l’ora della gara si fa sempre più vicina e la voglia di gareggiare si fa sempre più forte. A dare il via ai festeggiamenti della Giostra del Saracino la solenne serata della “Tratta dei Bossoli”, che si terrà domenica 11 agosto, alle ore 21:00, in Piazza Bargagli. serata avrà inizio con il Corteo dei Ceri in nome di San Rocco, protettore della Giostra del Saracino. Con il Corteo le contrade andranno ad offrire al Santo una lancia e un anello, simbolo della gara, insieme a un cero, il quale verrà consegnato all’arciprete che provvederà ad accenderlo dinanzi alla statua di San Rocco, posizionata in Piazza Barbagli. Durante il solenne rito, per ringraziare il Santo, le cinque contrade, a nome della comunità sarteanese, porteranno in dono un bene tipico del territorio. , A conclusione dell’offerta dei ceri e dei beni verrà svolta l’investitura dei Capitani delle Contrade, una pratica di origine militare, che fa riferimento al famoso 29 giugno 1445, quando i soldati sarteanesi riuscirono a respingere l’attacco al Castello mosso da Piccinino, il quale fu anche ferito. Il Capitano del Popolo investe quindi a Cavaliere i Capitani delle cinque contrade, il tutto davanti a San Rocco e al popolo contradaiolo., A seguire i due riti la Cerimonia dell’Estrazione, denominata “Tratta dei Bossoli”, durante la quale il Sindaco Francesco Landi che durante il Saracino è nominato “Governatore di nostra terra”, coadiuvato dal Capitano del Popolo, Giancarlo Betti, con una pesca cieca fra i colori delle contrade, andrà a stabilire l’ordine di partenza per la gara che si disputerà il giorno di Ferragosto. Al nominare della propria contrada il Giostratore a cavallo raggiungerà il Capitano, il quale gli consegnerà una lancia, simbolo della gara. Lo spettacolo delle Tratta dei Bossoli segna l’inizio dell’attesa, quella durante la quale si iniziano a fare i primi pronostici e i primi commenti, si vedono i contradaioli sfoggiare con fierezza i propri colori, ma segna anche il momento in cui viene svelato il Palio, dipinto da Diego Mendez, che andrà alla contrada vincitrice. Al termine della serata uno spettacolo imperdibile: l’esibizione del Gruppo Sbandieratori e Tamburini della Giostra del Saracino. Una serata magica per tutto il popolo sarteanese, che rivivrà quello che un tempo era una pratica amministrativa e politica medievale durante la quale l’intera comunità nominava ogni due mesi, estraendoli a sorte da una rosa di nomi, quattro priori, chiamati ad amministrare la comunità per un breve periodo di tempo. La rosa dei nomi veniva conservata in una duplice cassetta, di una delle quali teneva la chiave il pievano di San Lorenzo. All’atto dell’insediamento i Priori vecchi ed i nuovi ascoltavano una solenne messa in onore dello Spirito Santo, che si svolgeva presso la Chiesa di San Martino, allora situata nella piazza di fronte alle logge comunitative. Uno spettacolo da non perdere che convoglia in sé storia, arte, fato e fortuna, il tutto abbracciato dai colori delle cinque contrade, Santissima Trinità, Sant’Andrea, San Martino, San Lorenzo e San Bartolomeo.
