Fra i numerosi tifernati, fedeli e turisti che ieri, Ferragosto, hanno fatto tappa al Santuario Basilica di Canoscio, c’era anche il Commissario Tecnico della Nazionale di ciclismo su strada, Daniele Bennati, che da Arezzo e poi Castiglion Fiorentino nel cuore della Valdichiana luogo di origine della famiglia è salito in altura assieme ad un gruppo di amici per partecipare alle celebrazioni della solennità dell’Assunta

Fra i numerosi tifernati, fedeli e turisti che ieri, Ferragosto, hanno fatto tappa al Santuario Basilica di Canoscio, c’era anche il Commissario Tecnico della Nazionale di ciclismo su strada, Daniele Bennati, che da Arezzo e poi Castiglion Fiorentino nel cuore della Valdichiana luogo di origine della famiglia è salito in altura assieme ad un gruppo di amici per partecipare alle celebrazioni della solennità dell’Assunta di cui si conserva la venerata immagine della Maestà, che la tradizione popolare vuole dipinta da un anonimo autore, come promessa votiva al tempo di una terribile pestilenza. Di questa pittura oggi resta soltanto l’immagine della Madonna del Transito dormiente. “Siamo venuti da Arezzo passando da Castiglion Fiorentino con gruppo di amici – ha dichiarato il Ct della nazionale in perfetta tenuta di gara con la maglia azzurra il caschetto e la immancabile “Pinarello” – per me è la prima volta in bici il 15 di agosto in questo bellissimo luogo. Era un mio desiderio. Conoscevo bene il Santuario in quanto la mia famiglia di Castiglion Fiorentino da tempi molto lontani veniva sempre in pellegrinaggio a Canoscio e dunque ne ho sempre sentito i racconti soprattutto da parte di mio nonno e mia nonna”, ha concluso il Ct “azzurro”, professionista dal 2002 al 2019, soprannominato “Pantera”, perché aveva caratteristiche di velocista che in carriera ha vinto due Giri del Piemonte, tre tappe al Giro d’Italia, due al Tour de France (tra cui l’ambitissima ultima tappa con arrivo agli Champs-Élysées) e sei alla Vuelta a España, aggiudicandosi anche la classifica a punti alla Vuelta a España 2007 e al Giro d’Italia 2008. Al termine della funzione religiosa delle ore 11, celebrata dal Rettore del Santuario Don Franco Sgoluppi, alla presenza di tantissimi fedeli e dell’assessore alla Cultura e al Personale, Michela Botteghi, che ha rappresentato il Comune con la fascia tricolore, Bennati non si è sottratto a scattare alcuni “selfie” con diversi sportivi e appassionati di ciclismo che lo hanno riconosciuto, postando poi lui stesso una bella foto sul proprio profilo social “X” che lo ritrae accanto alla sua bici ai piedi del Santuario: “è un luogo in cui si ritempra il corpo e lo spirito. Buon Ferragosto”. Ferragosto con tanta gente ieri fin dalla prima mattina, con la Polizia Locale al lavoro per regolare traffico e osservanza dell’apposita ordinanza, dunque che conferma il Santuario Basilica di Canoscio come meta prediletta da numerosi fedeli e turisti anche da fuori regione, Toscana in testa. “La solennità dell’Assunzione della Beata Vergine Maria parla della storia e dell’identità della comunità di Città di Castello, che ha sempre espresso con grande partecipazione e rispetto la propria devozione religiosa. Un sentimento al quale ci uniamo, nella consapevolezza dell’importanza che questa celebrazione ha sempre rivestito per generazioni di tifernati, e che abbiamo condiviso idealmente con tutti coloro che dal nostro territorio e da quelli limitrofi saliti sul colle di Canoscio, fra cui il Ct della nazionale ciclismo Daniele Bennati che ringraziamo per la presenza assieme ad un gruppo di amici di Arezzo e di Castiglion Fiorentino, comune con cui Citta’ di Castello attraverso anche il Santuario e la fede per la Madonna del Transito vanta una amicizia che si perde nel tempo e che si rinsalda sempre”, hanno dichiarato il sindaco Luca Secondi e gli assessori alla Cultura e allo Sport, Michela Botteghi e Riccardo Carletti a nome della giunta nella speranza di avere ancora il Ct Bennati ed altri big del “pedale” a Città di Castello tra l’altro terra di grandi tradizioni e passioni per le “due ruote”.
