ROMA – Oggi a Roma il convegno promosso da Greenpeace Italia, ISDE – Medici per l’ambiente, Lipu, Terra! e WWF Italia per cambiare un sistema insostenibile Costituisce la seconda causa di formazione di particolato fine in Italia, è responsabile dei due terzi delle emissioni di ammoniaca sul territorio nazionale, consuma due terzi dei terreni agricoli europei per coltivazioni destinate alla mangimistica.
Oggi, al convegno “Oltre gli allevamenti intensivi” presso il Centro Congressi Cavour di Roma, si discute del settore della zootecnia intensiva, basato su un sistema insostenibile per ambiente, salute e animali .L’appuntamento è occasione per un dibattito ampio sulla transizione in chiave agro-ecologica del comparto, cuore della proposta di legge AC 1760 presentata lo scorso febbraio a Montecitorio da Greenpeace Italia, ISDE – Medici per l’ambiente, Lipu, Terra! e WWF Italia e ora in attesa di calendarizzazione in Parlamento. Durante l’evento viene inoltre presentata al pubblico la mozione promossa dalle cinque organizzazioni quale nuovo strumento a disposizione dei Comuni e dei cittadini per sostenere l’iniziativa di legge. Il convegno, che può essere seguito in diretta su Zoom dalle ore 14.30 alle 18.00, è moderato dal giornalista Francesco De Augustinis e vede la partecipazione di Michela Vittoria Brambilla, presidente dell’Intergruppo parlamentare per i diritti degli animali e la tutela dell’ambiente; degli onorevoli Eleonora Evi, Francesco Emilio Borrelli, Carmen Di Lauro; Francesco N. Tubiello, scienziato del clima della FAO; Laura Reali, dirigente ISDE Italia e presidente Confederazione Europea dei Pediatri delle Cure Primarie (ECPCP); Chiara Frontini, sindaca del Comune di Viterbo; Roberto Colombero, presidente UNCEM Piemonte e sindaco di Marmora; Camilla Laureti, Politiche agricole e alimentari PD; Alessandro Caramiello, Pianeta 2050 M5S; Francesca Pisseri, rappresentante AIDA; Famiano Crucianelli, presidente del Biodistretto della Via Amerina e delle Forre; Fabio Ciconte, Direttore di Terra!.Sono sfide urgenti da affrontare quelle poste dal sistema degli allevamenti intensivi, favorito da incentivi che premiano soprattutto le aziende agricole più grandi: a loro va infatti il 70% dei sussidi diretti della PAC (Politica agricola comune), sebbene rappresentino poco più del 30% delle aziende agricole italiane. Di contro, tra il 2007 e il 2022 il nostro Paese ha perso oltre la metà (il 51%) delle sue aziende agricole di piccole dimensioni. In Italia, il settore zootecnico è la seconda causa di formazione di PM2,5, il cosiddetto particolato fine, pericoloso per la salute umana, ed è responsabile del 14% delle emissioni climalteranti sul territorio nazionale e della perdita di habitat naturali, importanti alleati nella lotta al cambiamento climatico. «Le conseguenze degli eventi climatici estremi cui assistiamo proprio in questi giorni in diverse parti d’Italia, ma anche l’aggravarsi di epidemie come la peste suina, la crisi delle aziende agricole di piccole dimensioni, l’uso insostenibile di risorse limitate come acqua e suolo, impongono una trasformazione del sistema zootecnico attuale. Un sistema che il nostro Paese, così come gli altri Stati UE, è chiamato a ripensare, in linea con quanto emerso anche dalle conclusioni del Dialogo Strategico sul futuro dell’agricoltura europea», dichiarano le associazioni proponenti. «Per questo, chiediamo che la nostra proposta di legge sia al più presto discussa in Parlamento. Inoltre, presentiamo oggi una mozione a disposizione dei Consigli comunali italiani per rafforzare la partecipazione delle comunità locali nella gestione dei territori che vivono le ricadute ambientali e socio-sanitarie degli allevamenti intensivi». La mozione promossa da Greenpeace Italia, ISDE – Medici per l’ambiente, Lipu, Terra! e WWF Italia è già a disposizione di tutti i Consigli comunali che intendono discuterla e si propone quale strumento a sostegno dei principi alla base della proposta AC 1760, presentata lo scorso febbraio dalle cinque associazioni a Montecitorio. Il testo di legge propone nell’immediato una moratoria all’apertura di nuovi allevamenti intensivi e all’aumento del numero di animali allevati in quelli già esistenti. Per incoraggiare la transizione ecologica delle grandi e medie aziende, prevede inoltre un piano di riconversione del comparto, finanziato con un fondo dedicato, e punta a rendere protagoniste le piccole aziende agricole, in favore di una transizione verso un modello basato su tecniche agro-ecologiche, su un uso efficiente delle risorse e sull’accesso a un cibo sano e di qualità, sulla creazione di filiere che garantiscano il giusto compenso a lavoratori e aziende.
