SANSEPOLCRO – Nella giornata di sabato 16 novembre 2024, il Comune di Sansepolcro ha riconsegnato alla cittadinanza la Fontana monumentale di Piazza Garibaldi, detta di San Francesco, al termine di un accurato intervento di restauro.
La cerimonia inaugurale, che ha visto la partecipazione di numerosi
cittadini, rappresentanti delle istituzioni e autorità locali, si è tenuta in una cornice suggestiva che ha celebrato uno dei simboli storici della città. L’intervento di restauro, realizzato dalla Ditta Pecorelli s.n.c. di Sansepolcro, ha riguardato sia gli elementi strutturali sia i dettagli artistici della fontana, con un lavoro meticoloso eseguito in sinergia con il restauratore dei beni culturali Tommaso Sensini. L’intero progetto è stato diretto dall’Arch. Stefano Tanci del Servizio Lavori Pubblici del Comune, con la supervisione della Soprintendenza Archeologia Belle Arti e Paesaggio per le Province di Siena, Grosseto e Arezzo, nelle figure del Dott. Isacco Cecconi, responsabile del procedimento, e dell’Arch. Federico Salvini. Un restauro tra tradizione e innovazione, suddiviso in due fasi, che ha previsto una spesa complessiva di 71.000 euro (IVA INCLUSA), con il primo appalto di 45.000 euro e il secondo, di completamento, di 26.000 euro. L’intervento si è concentrato sul recupero delle parti artistiche e funzionali della fontana: i due mascheroni metallici, di cui uno in ghisa e l’altro in bronzo, sono stati restaurati con tecniche specifiche per rimuovere ossidazioni e depositi corrosivi, garantendone la conservazione nel tempo. Un elemento di particolare rilievo è stato il rifacimento del catino sommitale in pietra, completamente disgregato. La Ditta Valtiberina Marmi ha realizzato una riproduzione fedele grazie all’utilizzo di avanzate tecniche di lavorazione partendo da un modello digitale in 3D, unendo artigianato tradizionale e tecnologia moderna. Dal punto di vista tecnico, la fontana è ora dotata di una pompa di ricircolo dell’acqua, installata grazie al contributo della Ditta C.R.Impianti S.r.l., che consente il funzionamento del mascherone di bronzo a valle, migliorando l’efficienza e riducendo gli interventi manutentivi. Per il momento, non è previsto il collegamento idrico dell’ugello sommitale che riversava l’acqua sul catino, ma la predisposizione è stata lasciata per eventuali interventi futuri. La storia della Fontana di Piazza Garibaldi: La Fontana, risalente al XVII secolo, è un’opera di grande valore storico e simbolico per Sansepolcro. I due mascheroni metallici, diversi per forma e materiale, raccontano l’evoluzione dell’opera nel tempo. Il mascherone superiore in ghisa, una produzione seriale rintracciabile anche in altre città italiane, è affiancato dal mascherone inferiore in bronzo, rifacimento di fantasia eseguito negli anni ‘90. Il Comune di Sansepolcro ringrazia le ditte che, con il loro contributo volontario, hanno reso possibile questo intervento. In particolare, un sentito grazie alla Ditta Valtiberina Marmi, che ha messo a disposizione la propria maestria artigianale, e alla Ditta C.R.Impianti S.r.l., per l’installazione della pompa di ricircolo. Il Sindaco Fabrizio Innocenti, presente alla cerimonia, ha sottolineato: “La Fontana di Piazza Garibaldi è un simbolo della nostra città, un patrimonio che appartiene alla comunità e che meritava di essere restituito nella sua piena bellezza. Questo restauro rappresenta un atto d’amore verso Sansepolcro e il suo passato, reso possibile grazie alla collaborazione tra istituzioni, professionisti e imprese locali. Siamo orgogliosi di riconsegnare ai cittadini un’opera che non solo valorizza il nostro centro storico, ma testimonia la nostra attenzione alla conservazione del patrimonio artistico e culturale.” Con la Fontana restaurata, Sansepolcro recupera un pezzo della propria storia, rendendola nuovamente fruibile e apprezzabile da cittadini e visitatori.
