Gli ingegneri moderni calcolarono che la torre avrebbe raggiunto il collasso se l’inclinazione avesse superato i 5,44 gradi. L’intervento moderno Nel 1990, la torre fu chiusa per lavori di stabilizzazione: • 361 fori profondi 40 metri vennero scavati sotto la base e riempiti con 90 tonnellate di cemento Pali di sostegno vennero installati per ancorare la torre a strati di terreno più stabili. • Infine, venne rimossa terra dal lato opposto a quello che affondava, riducendo l’inclinazione ai 4 gradi originali.
