CESENA – la Neurologia dell’ospedale Bufalini nel progetto vincitore del Bando AIFA 2023 insieme a IRCCS Istituto delle Scienze Neurologiche di Bologna e AOU Modena AUSL della Romagna, Azienda Ospedaliero Universitaria di Modena e IRCCS Istituto delle Scienze Neurologiche di Bologna insieme per la prevenzione secondaria dell’ICTUS.
L’Ospedale Bufalini di Cesena infatti, fa parte del team multidisciplinare, guidato dall’IRCSS di Bologna che si è aggiudicato il Bando AIFA 2023 nella sezione dedicata agli “Studi di prevenzione secondaria sull’ictus”. Il progetto vincitore, denominato TAILOR (Tailored antiplatelet secondary prevention in non-cardioembolic ischemic stroke: a phase IV gender-stratified randomized controlled trial), ha ottenuto il punteggio massimo (50/50) durante la valutazione scientifica. Con un finanziamento complessivo di 721.000 euro, di cui 353.000 destinati all’IRCCS Istituto delle Scienze Neurologiche, il cui Principal Investigator è il Dott. Andrea Zini, Direttore dell’UOC Neurologia e Rete Stroke Metropolitana , il progetto coinvolgerà la Stroke Unit della Neurologia dell’Azienda ospedaliera di Modena, di cui è responsabile il dottor Guido Bigliardi, e la Neurologia e Stroke Unit dell’Ospedale Bufalini di Cesena, di cui è direttore il dottor Marco Longoni, come unità operative partecipanti. I Principal Investigator locali, il Dott. Guido Bigliardi e il Dott. Michele Romoli, neurologo del reparto cesenate, collaboreranno per arruolare oltre 1.300 pazienti in Emilia-Romagna, la regione di appartenenza delle tre istituzioni coinvolte. Il progetto TAILOR rappresenta, inoltre, l’unico studio vincitore in Emilia-Romagna tra le due aree tematiche del Bando AIFA 2023 (oncologia e cardio-cerebrovascolare), consolidando il ruolo della regione come riferimento per l’innovazione scientifica. Un riconoscimento importante che premia l’impegno del team di professionisti e il loro lavoro quotidiano.
Un progetto di medicina personalizzata e di genere
Il progetto TAILOR mira a innovare la prevenzione secondaria dell’ictus ischemico non cardioembolico, un problema di salute pubblica globale. L’obiettivo principale è verificare l’efficacia di una terapia antiaggregante personalizzata, basata su test di aggregazione piastrinica, rispetto alla tradizionale prescrizione standard.
Lo studio propone un approccio di medicina personalizzata per ottimizzare la risposta ai farmaci antiaggreganti e ridurre le differenze di genere che, ancora oggi, limitano l’efficacia delle terapie standard. I risultati attesi non solo miglioreranno la pratica clinica, ma saranno direttamente trasferibili al Servizio Sanitario Nazionale, garantendo un beneficio per i pazienti e un impatto positivo sulla sostenibilità del sistema sanitario.
