È questo il presupposto che ci ha spinto a depositare un emendamento, da discutere durante il prossimo Consiglio Comunale in occasione delle delibere finanziarie, per spostare 200.000 euro dalla Fondazione Guido d’Arezzo al capitolo dedicato agli ‘interventi per lo sport’.
È ormai consuetudine che l’assessore Merelli prenda la parola in assemblea per annunciare, oltre a numeri circostanziati, uno stanziamento a beneficio della suddetta fondazione. A nostro giudizio alcune iniziative promosse dall’amministrazione rischiano di restare fini a se stesse, senza ricadute in città. A questo si aggiunge che la maggior parte delle associazioni culturali aretine rimangono ai margini se non totalmente escluse dalla programmazione. Ma dall’altra parte è arrivato il momento di lanciare un messaggio al mondo dello sport invertendo la tendenza. L’assessore Scapecchi in questi anni ha sicuramente manifestato impegno. Tuttavia ha dovuto scontare due aspetti: il primo è politico, ovvero il mancato sostengo da parte del suo gruppo consiliare. Il secondo è l’essersi sorretto economicamente solo sulle gambe altrui, quelle dei privati che vanno a gestire gli impianti comunali. Il grande assente è stato proprio l’intervento pubblico. La sofferenza dello sport aretino è certificata dall’indagine sull’indice di sportività delle province italiane che colloca Arezzo al sessantasettesimo posto a livello nazionale. Scorporando i dati si scopre che è addirittura ottantaseiesima per le strutture sportive. Si tratta anche in questo caso di una macrocategoria che prende in considerazione parametri piuttosto diversificati ma uno di questi riguarda gli investimenti. Con il nostro emendamento alla spesa corrente chiediamo di testimoniare agli atleti, ai dirigenti, ai volontari che è arrivata l’ora di ricominciare a dare importanza allo sport di base. Uno Youth festival in meno e qualche progetto in più per i giovani, per la salute, per l’aggregazione”.
