Ogni notte, ognuno di noi chiude gli occhi, dimentica completamente ciò che lo circonda e inizia a viaggiare verso un mondo di fantasia, pieno d’incontri amorosi, sesso, avventure spericolate, mostri, incidenti e colpi di scena…e poi…purtroppo suona la sveglia …ma cosa è successo? Nic si sveglia in piena notte, o almeno pensa di essere sveglio, gli occhi sono aperti, la mente è quasi lucida, ma il corpo è completamente paralizzato: Nic sta vivendo un’esperienza sconvolgente, sta avendo una paralisi del sonno! Nel complicato tentativo di spiegare cosa gli succeda, Nic conoscerà sonnambuli, persone che cucinano durante il sonno, altre che fanno sesso, altre ancora che uccidono, persone che fanno sogni bizzarri ed altre che mentre sognano scrivono romanzi, infine incontrerà scienziati che hanno studiato il sonno e i suoi segreti.
Alternando momenti ironici, quasi comici, a momenti documentaristici, lo spettacolo mette luce sul sonno, su i suoi misteri e curiosità. Lo spettacolo nasce dalla personale esperienza di paralisi del sonno. Incuriosito e un po’ impaurito, ho deciso di saperne di più e ho scoperto l’enorme mondo che sta dentro di noi mentre dormiamo, una seconda vita che viviamo senza rendercene conto. Today, I went to the beach with my children.
