Dopo giorni di coma a seguito di un’improvvisa emorragia cerebrale, all’ospedale Bufalini dov’era stato trasportato d’urgenza, ieri, a 79 anni ancora da compiere è morto Valter Rossi, ex assessore e insegnante, ma soprattutto persona curiosa e gentile, molto conosciuta e benvoluta a Bagno di Romagna, dove è nato e ancora risiedeva e a Cesena dove ha lavorato
La politica e l’insegnamento erano due facce di una stessa medaglia fatta di impegno civico per e nel proprio territorio. Nella biografia che accompagnava “Taccuini di Viaggio”, la sua ultima opera letteraria, venivano citate i suoi «tre sensi di appartenenza: la terra in cui è nato, Bagno di Romagna, nella quale ha fatto i primi passi e in cui conserva tanti cari amici. Firenze, la città che gli ha permesso di laurearsi. Cesena, la città che gli ha garantito il lavoro, salvo qualche interruzione». È stato insegnante del liceo scientifico Righi di Cesena, per gran parte della sua vita professionale, ma nel suo curriculum di docente ci sono anche una parentesi al Comandini quando era a San Piero e una all’istituto tecnico agrario.
Si era laureato in lettere moderne all’Università di Firenze e in sociologia ad Urbino. Nel 1982 usufruendo di una borsa di studio dell’Unione Europea, studiò Geografia Economica a Berlino. In collaborazione con l’Aned, l’associazione nazionale degli ex deportati nei campi nazisti, ha curato la testimonianza sul passaggio del fronte in Romagna e sulla vita dei militari nei campi di concentramento. Autore di diversi libri, ha pubblicato: La Memoria e la Speranza, Generazione Superstite, Donne Schizzate e storia di San Silvestro in Fontechiusi. La sua ultima opera: Taccuini di Viaggio. È stato assessore dal 1980 al 1985 a Urbanistica e Cultura del Comune di Bagno di Romagna e vice Presidente delle ex Comunità Montana Cesenate. Faceva parte dell’accademia dei Filopatridi di Savignano.
Ma più di qualsiasi titolo, «La cosa più grande era che aveva sempre una parola e un pensiero gentile per tutti», lo ricorda commossa la figlia Carla. Parole che risuonano anche nel lungo e appassionato ricordo che ha condiviso Renzo Spignoli, che con Rossi ha condiviso la militanza nel Psi e l’impegno come amministratore. «Valter Rossi era un poeta. Non solo perché aveva scritto libri di poesie (e altri ancora, anche in prosa), ma per il modo con cui ha inteso e attraversato la propria esistenza: buono d’animo, di schietta provenienza dalla campagna mai rinnegata, percosso dalla vita senza mai perdere il sorriso e la fiducia negli altri, amante della compagnia, colto e arguto». Spignoli ne ricorda l’impegno da educatore e da studente sempre alla ricerca di nuovi saperi da condividere.
E ancora: «Come assessore all’urbanistica del Comune di Bagno di Romagna, varò un importante piano regolatore, come assessore alla cultura dette vita ad una serie di grandi stagioni espositive al Palazzo del Capitano, con la preziosa collaborazione di Mauro Capitani. Come vicepresidente della Comunità Montana dell’Appennino Cesenate partecipò ad una delle più importanti stagioni di crescita socio-economica che il nostro territorio abbia mai visto». «Ho lasciato per ultima la qualifica più cara – si conclude il ricordo -: Valter era un amico buono e leale, che ci mancherà tantissimo».
Valter Rossi lascia la figlia Carla, il genero Andrea, il nipote Dario, il fratello Romano. Il funerale sarà celebrato domani alle 14.30 nella Basilica Santa Maria Assunta di Bagno di Romagna.
