E rispetto del diritto internazionale mercoledì 19 marzo 2025, alle ore 11:00 presso la Sala Rosa del Comune di Arezzo, si è tenuta una conferenza stampa promossa da un ampio fronte di associazioni e organizzazioni territoriali per chiedere che l’Amministrazione comunale assuma una posizione chiara in favore della pace e del rispetto del diritto internazionale in Palestina.
La conferenza stampa è organizzata dal comitato Arezzo per Gaza insieme ad altre realtà associative, tra cui Arci, Un Ponte per, Associazione Amicizia Italo-Palestinese, Associazione Pepe Mujica, Circolo Eureko, Cas Indicatore, Cgil, Anpi, Circolo Baobab, Circolo Aurora, Acli e Chimera Arcobaleno. Le associazioni promotrici chiedono che il Comune di Arezzo, a seguito dell’incontro con l’ambasciatore israeliano Jonathan Peled, si faccia portavoce di un messaggio di pace e giustizia, prendendo una posizione netta contro l’occupazione illegale della Cisgiordania e le violazioni dei diritti umani in atto a Gaza. Auspicano, inoltre, che la maggioranza di centrodestra approvi la mozione consiliare, promossa dal Consigliere Comunale Francesco Romizi di Arezzo2020, che chiede il riconoscimento dello Stato palestinese, un’azione istituzionale già adottata dal Comune di Civitella in Valdichiana e dal Comune di Firenze, tra gli altri.
Si sottolinea la necessità di:
- Chiedere ufficialmente il cessate il fuoco immediato e definitivo.
- Condannare l’occupazione e il regime di apartheid imposto ai palestinesi, come riconosciuto dalla Corte Internazionale di Giustizia.
- Sospendere qualsiasi collaborazione istituzionale ed economica con enti e aziende israeliane coinvolte nell’occupazione illegale.
- Promuovere iniziative di solidarietà concreta con la popolazione palestinese, come l’accoglienza sanitaria e umanitaria ai profughi.
- Dare visibilità alla richiesta di giustizia attraverso manifesti, eventi pubblici e il sostegno alle associazioni che difendono i diritti umani.
Le Associazioni promotrici sottolineano che il sostegno che da sempre promuovono per la “Causa Palestinese” e la solidarietà con la loro indomita Resistenza non può essere tacciato di antisemitismo. Troppo spesso è stato usato questo inesistente argomento per non affrontare il tema della autodeterminazione del popolo Palestinese. Le realtà aderenti invitano i cittadini, la stampa e le istituzioni locali a sostenere questa iniziativa affinché anche il Comune di Arezzo si schieri a favore della pace e del rispetto del diritto internazionale.
