“Quanto riportato recentemente dai media locali mette in luce la grave situazione dell’assistenza agli anziani, costretti a ricoveri in residenze lontane da casa, dalla famiglia e dall’ambiente di vita. Sebbene la Rsa sia una risposta necessaria in alcuni casi, sarebbe fondamentale limitarla alle situazioni in cui altre opzioni non sono percorribili.
E in questo contesto emerge il vero problema: la carenza di servizi di assistenza alternativi, in particolare per i non autosufficienti. Parliamo di assistenza domiciliare, di supporto ai familiari, di centri diurni, di residenze di piccole dimensioni o esperienze di coabitazione e assistenza di vicinato: tutte queste si sono dimostrate efficaci nel preservare la salute e l’umanità degli anziani ma ad Arezzo sono, purtroppo, insufficienti o assenti. I dati pubblicati dalla Asl sudest e riferiti al 2022-2023 confermano questa criticità con assistenza domiciliare diretta in calo dal 2018 e percentuale di ultra-settantacinquenni dimessi dall’ospedale con accesso domiciliare al di sotto della media regionale. Inoltre, non si registrano aperture di centri diurni, residenze sociali diffuse e servizi di supporto. È quindi indispensabile un cambio di passo nelle politiche sociali, anche del Comune, con un progetto e un programma di sviluppo dei servizi per la popolazione anziana. Questo permetterà di sostenere concretamente le famiglie nella cura dei loro cari e di garantire agli anziani la possibilità di mantenere affetti e dignità”
