In scena al Teatro Trastevere dall’8 all’11 Maggio 2025 Cos’è l’amore? Ci sono persone che si accontentano di cose finite, ma le vogliono perfette. Poi ci sono quelle che si accontentano di cose finite e imperfette. E poi ci sono quelli che inseguono l’infinito.
Sandra ha perso l’amore della sua vita e vuole raggiungerlo. Marco vorrebbe amare tutte le donne del mondo e non sa scegliere. Ada vorrebbe qualcuno che l’amasse per sempre. Pietro desidera l’amore ma ne ha troppa paura. Luca sta morendo e vorrebbe che la sua compagna non si spegnesse con lui. Lili è destinata a veder morire tutti quelli che ama. Sei individui inseguono l’amore e cercano risposte attraverso le dimensioni dello spazio e del tempo. Sembrano sei ma sono molti di più e s’incontrano, si sfiorano, si sfuggono e a volte, di rado, si riconoscono. La caratteristica che più ci ha fatto innamorare (!) di Declinazioni d’amore è il suo essere insieme una commedia romantica brillante e un dramma intimo. Per questo, è stato importante costruire uno spettacolo che riuscisse a mescolare e a far emergere in egual misura entrambi questi toni; che, per usare le parole di una maestra di teatro e cinema, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, vi faccia ridere a crepapelle per poi colpirvi in piena faccia quando meno ve lo aspettate. Così gli interpreti, ognuno dei quali veste i panni di due personaggi, spesso volontariamente agli opposti, hanno scavato in profondità per far brillare il tono della commedia e, allo stesso tempo, rendere il dramma vero e umano. Anche l’uso delle luci (con tagli freddi e ansiogeni per il terribile dramma di Luca e Sandra; soffusi e avvolgenti per le atmosfere noir di Lili; caldi e frizzanti per quelle comiche di Ada, Pietro e le loro voci interiori) è una parte essenziale di questo processo, così come la musica. Il tutto sarà sempre avvolto da un’atmosfera retrò, un po’ jazz. In fondo, uno dei nuclei principali del testo è l’ipotesi che esistano più dimensioni parallele, dove il tempo scorre diversamente, e attraverso le quali il passato, il presente e il futuro si intrecciano e confondono. Anche per questo, i costumi di scena dei personaggi sono caratterizzati da una mescolanza di elementi moderni, ripresi soprattutto dalla moda degli anni Cinquanta, Sessanta e Settanta, per cui i personaggi danno l’impressione di venire da momenti diversi, da mondi diversi, che tuttavia si sono finalmente incontrati.
