Pubblicati i risultati della campagna annuale Il Comune di Arezzo ha reso noti i risultati dell’indagine olfattiva commissionata ad Ecol Studio per il monitoraggio della percezione degli odori nell’area compresa tra le frazioni di San Zeno, Le Poggiola, Ponte a Chiani, Ruscello, Battifolle e Olmo. L’attività, svolta nell’arco di un anno, dal 2 aprile 2024 al 31 marzo 2025. L’indagine ha avuto l’obiettivo di determinare il livello di esposizione della popolazione ricadente nell’areale di studio agli odori in atmosfera, attraverso il metodo Field Inspection – metodo a griglia, conforme alla norma europea UNI EN 16841-1:2017.
Il periodo di monitoraggio ha avuto una durata complessiva di un anno (dal 2 aprile 2024 al 31 marzo 2025), suddiviso in quattro trimestri: due corrispondenti alla stagionalità calda, dal 02 aprile 2024 al 30 settembre 2024, e due corrispondenti alla stagionalità fredda, dal 1 ottobre 2024 al 31 marzo 2025. Il monitoraggio sensoriale in campo eseguito secondo la norma succitata ha permesso di definire un indice quantitativo di esposizione olfattiva in aria ambiente definito come frequenza di ore di odore relativamente ad una molteplicità di matrici odorigene. Sono state monitorate le seguenti matrici odorigene: rifiuto umido, biofiltro, fognatura, solvente, ammoniaca, asfalto e fertilizzante.
Il monitoraggio ha previsto l’impiego di valutatori addestrati che hanno rilevato, in campo, la frequenza di percezione dei vari odori oggetto di monitoraggio nell’arco delle 24 ore e in diverse condizioni stagionali.
Nel complesso l’area di indagine che presenta la maggiore esposizione olfattiva è la porzione meridionale della griglia di misura predisposta sul territorio comunale, tra la località di Ponte alla Nave e l’area industriale di San Zeno. Su quest’area di territorio sono stati percepiti tutti gli odori, fatta eccezione per gli odori di fognatura e asfalto, i quali sono limitati alla parte settentrionale della griglia.
Sebbene non via siano a livello nazionale limiti normativi di concentrazione di odore in aria lo studio riporta anche un confronto tra l’indice qualitativo di esposizione olfattiva ed i limiti di accettabilità previsti dalle linee guida tedesche sull’odore in aria ambiente “Guideline on Odor in Ambient Air – GOAA”.
La campagna si è svolta anche con il supporto della piattaforma TOM (Total Odour Management), messa a disposizione da Ecol Studio, attraverso la quale i cittadini hanno potuto segnalare episodi di odori molesti. Le segnalazioni raccolte hanno mostrato una buona corrispondenza con i dati oggettivi rilevati dai valutatori sul campo, contribuendo a fornire un quadro rappresentativo e affidabile dell’impatto olfattivo sul territorio.
“Questa iniziativa nasce da un’attenzione concreta alla qualità della vita dei nostri cittadini,” ha dichiarato il sindaco Alessandro Ghinelli. “Attraverso un approccio scientifico abbiamo voluto dare seguito alle segnalazioni provenienti da alcune aree del nostro territorio. I risultati emersi ci consentono di determinare la diffusione degli odori di vario tipo con rilevazioni di percentuali relativamente modeste. Di questi risultati adesso saranno portati a conoscenza gli Enti che hanno titolo per dare eventuali disposizioni, ovvero Asl, Arpat, e Regione Toscana”.
“Lo studio, commissionato dall’Amministrazione Comunale, che prevede l’utilizzo di una metodologia scientifica riconosciuta a livello europeo accompagnata anche dal coinvolgimento attivo della popolazione ha permesso di ottenere un quadro oggettivo dell’esposizione odorigena su una parte del nostro territorio e dal quale in un recente passato sono giunte tantissime segnalazioni di odori molesti. I risultati raccolti dallo studio saranno messi a disposizione di tutti gli enti competenti in materia di ambientale e salute”, ha commentato l’assessore Marco Sacchetti.
