Durante la puntata, il celebre divulgatore scientifico e storico porterà il pubblico a scoprire un episodio straordinario legato alla Seconda Guerra Mondiale, quando la nostra città rischiò la distruzione totale da parte delle forze alleate. A salvare Sansepolcro fu Anthony Clarke, un giovane soldato britannico di appena 21 anni. Clarke, appassionato d’arte e colpito dal valore culturale della città natale di Piero della Francesca, si oppose al bombardamento risparmiando così la città e consentendo di preservare la “Resurrezione”, definita da Aldous Huxley “la pittura più bella del mondo”. La troupe di “Freedom” ha visitato il Museo Civico di Sansepolcro per raccontare questa pagina di storia unica, in cui la cultura e la bellezza dell’arte sono riuscite a prevalere sulla guerra e sulla distruzione. Un tributo che sottolinea ancora una volta il valore universale del patrimonio storico-artistico della nostra città.
