Negli ultimi anni, supermercati, banche e altri esercizi commerciali hanno adottato con entusiasmo le casse automatiche. Queste tecnologie promettono efficienza, velocità e una migliore esperienza per il cliente. Ma dietro la comodità del self-service si cela una questione cruciale: la progressiva eliminazione di posti di lavoro. E’ la riflessione che si pone il presidente provinciale MCL Arezzo Maurizio Pagliai. “Per molte persone, lavorare come cassiere non è solo un impiego: è una porta d’accesso al mondo del lavoro, spesso il primo passo per chi cerca indipendenza economica. Le casse automatiche, però, sostituiscono proprio questi ruoli. Più tecnologia, meno occupazione”. Molti cassieri sono stati ricollocati, altri licenziati, è diminuito il turn over con meno posti stabili, più contratti a termine o part time”. Pagliai evidenzia come l’innovazione non possa prescindere da una riflessione sociale e sia necessario un equilibrio tra progresso e tutela del lavoro. “L’efficienza non deve diventare sinonimo di esclusione. Automatizzare non è per forza negativo, ma serve un equilibrio. Investire in formazione, garantire nuove opportunità, e mettere le persone al centro delle transizioni tecnologiche è fondamentale. Perché il progresso da solo non basta se non porta con sé anche giustizia sociale. Un discorso a parte poi dovrebbe essere fatto sull’utente finale, che a parità di costo vede ridursi il servizio, e se anziano, spesso ne affronta con difficoltà l’utilizzo”.
