Mercoledì 17 settembre 2025 dalle ore 14.30 presso la sede del Canoa Club Città di Castello, si è tenuto l’evento “La canoa è per tutti” organizzato dal Rotary Club Città di Castello presieduto da Giambattista Santinelli, in collaborazione con Canoa Club Città di Castello, Inner Wheel Club Città di Castello e Rotary Club Sansepolcro ed il supporto del comune.
L’iniziativa ha previsto il coinvolgimento di persone diversamente abili che hanno disceso il fiume Tevere in canoa in tutta sicurezza, grazie anche alla presenza di istruttori, il supporto dei Vigili del Fuoco e personale sanitario “SOGIT”, a testimonianza che, tante attività apparentemente loro precluse, sono invece sfide che possono essere vinte. Protagonisti dell’evento sono stati i ragazzi delle cooperative La Rondine di Città di Castello e ASAD di Umbertide. Novità di quest’anno è stata la presenza straordinaria di “Capitan Eco” che, con alcuni bambini delle scuole elementari del II circolo didattico, ha disceso il fiume Tevere in una sorta di “Eco regata” con l’obiettivo di sensibilizzare le nuove generazioni su tematiche ambientali. “Il Rotary Club Città di Castello – ha dochiarato il presidente Santinelli – è sempre attivamente partecipe ad iniziative in sostegno di persone meno fortunate ed ha insito nel suo spirito il servire e la concreta realizzazione di quanto necessario al fine di abbattere le barriere e permettere l’integrazione sociale e sportiva a persone disabili. Altrettanto importante è stata la messa in acqua del Dragon Boat da parte delle Farfalle Rosa dell’associazione Altotevere contro il Cancro.” La giornata è proseguita , dalle ore 20.00, con una conviviale presso la sede del Canoa Club di Città di Castello dove è intervenuto come ospite, Aurelio Forcignanò, Presidente Coni Umbria. Hanno partecipato all’evento nel corso della giornata, il sindaco Luca Secondi e gli assessori, Benedetta Calagreti, Riccardo Carletti e Letizia Guerri, sottolineandone l’importanza “che da anni riveste nella comunità locale tifernate per i valori e i messaggi positivi che racchiude nel ricordo indimenticabile di Rossella Cestini, già assessore e riferimento del panorama socio-sanitario e scolastico, da sempre instancabile spostenitrice”.
