Firmato da Elisabetta Lauro e Gennaro Andrea Lauro con musica dal vivo di Amedeo Monda, lo spettacolo di apertura – selezionato nell’ambito della NID Platform 2024, la vetrina internazionale della danza contemporanea italiana che promuovere e sostiene la migliore produzione coreutica nazionale – vede in scena una riflessione poetica sulle dinamiche di scelta, sull’equilibrio tra libertà e costrizione.
Il termine tedesco Zugzwang, nel linguaggio degli scacchi, indica il momento in cui un giocatore è costretto a muovere pur sapendo che ogni mossa comporterà una perdita. È proprio da questa condizione di tensione e possibilità che nasce lo spettacolo: una riflessione danzata sulla necessità di agire in un fragile equilibrio dove la scacchiera diventa il simbolo di un sistema chiuso di possibilità, in cui il giocatore scopre di non controllare davvero il gioco, ma di esserne parte integrante. Due individui – fratello e sorella – si ritrovano come pedine su una scacchiera, percorrono e reinventano lo spazio delle 64 caselle, lo trasformano in un labirinto di relazioni, deviazioni e impasse. Nella partitura coreografica, la scacchiera diventa metafora dell’identità, del sistema di regole e ruoli in cui cresciamo, ma anche del desiderio di sovvertirli per trovare nuove possibilità. In ZugZwang, Elisabetta e Gennaro A. Lauro indagano la possibilità di cercare un nuovo modo di muoversi, di disinnescare il gioco e piegarne le regole, verso un possibile spiraglio di libertà.
Al termine dello spettacolo è previsto un momento di incontro tra il pubblico e gli artisti.
Lo spettacolo sarà preceduto sabato 8 novembre (dalle 11 alle 13) dalla masterclass gratuita (prenotazione obbligatoria) “Come costruirsi un labirinto”, un momento partecipativo aperto a tutti, senza necessità di una formazione specifica in danza. Il laboratorio sarà ospitato negli spazi della scuola di danza La piccola étoile, che dal 2025 entra a far parte dei partner e collaboratori della rassegna La danza che muove.

Pur con percorsi diversi, Elisabetta e Gennaro A. Lauro condividono un fondamentale interesse per il movimento come veicolo di contenuti emozionali o simbolici. La danza è il linguaggio primario ma non esclusivo della loro ricerca. In essa ricercano la possibilità del corpo di farsi segno anche di quanto non può essere chiaramente detto. Hanno lavorato parallelamente in Germania, Italia, Francia e Svizzera. Elisabetta, dopo gli studi presso la Folkwang Hochschule, è interprete, tra gli altri, per Malou Airaudo, Kuo-Chu Wu, Johannes Wieland, Rootlessroot e nel ‘Sacre’ di Pina Bausch. Dal 2011 ha creato insieme a César Augusto Cuenca Torres Hay un no sé qué no sé donde e (zero), e nel 2021 il suo primo solo Regenland. Del 2023 è l’ultima creazione, ZugZwang, creata in collaborazione con suo fratello Gennaro. Ha avviato nel 2024 un nuovo ampio progetto, OBEY, una ricerca sul femminile ed è attualmente impegnata nella produzione di OBEY#Logos. Gennaro ha studiato Filosofia e Lingue Orientali, avvicinandosi poi alla danza e lavorando, tra gli altri, per Giorgio Rossi, Cindy Van Acker, Romeo Castellucci e Oona Doherty. Nel 2018 presenta la sua prima creazione, Sarajevo – la strage dell’uomo tranquillo, e poi nel 2020 Mondo. Del 2023 è la creazione, ZugZwang, creata in collaborazione con sua sorella Elisabetta. Ha recentemente debuttato con la sua nuova creazione, To Repel Ghosts/Lettera al Padre, un lavoro sull’esperienza intima del maschile, condotto con la presenza di Silvia Mai.
