Era malato da tempo. Una una vita dedicata alla storia della sua città e all’opera di Piero della Francesca.
È morto nella notte ad Arezzo da tempo le sue condizioni di salute si erano aggravate. È stato nella vita professionale un docente del triennio al liceo scientifico “Piero della Francesca”, poi uno storico della città: ha scritto numerosi libri e dal 1995 al 2015 ha diretto l’archivio storico diocesano. Nel 2004 ha deciso di impegnarsi anche in politica, candidandosi a sindaco in area centrodestra e perdendo per soli 23 voti ricandidato nel 2006, era stato eletto sindaco dopo la vittoria al ballottaggio con Bruno Graziotti ed è rimasto nel suo ruolo di primo cittadino fino alla scadenza naturale del mandato.
