Promossa dal Comitato Pro San Secondo e dall’Associazione Nazionale Famiglie Caduti e Dispersi in Guerra – Sezione di Città di Castello, mercoledì 1° novembre nella frazione di San Secondo si terrà la cerimonia commemorativa in onore dei caduti in guerra (vittime civili e militari)
La tradizionale manifestazione vedrà la partecipazione di una rappresentanza del Comando Militare dell’Esercito della Regione Umbria. Dopo la S. Messa officiata alle ore 10 da Mons. Giovanni Cappelli nella chiesa parrocchiale, alle ore 10,45 il corteo, accompagnato dalla Filarmonica “Giacomo Puccini” di Città di Castello diretta dal Maestro Nolito Bambini, muoverà verso il monumento posto a ricordo delle vittime civili del bombardamento del 14 maggio 1944 (alla croce), quindi verso la Pubblica Assistenza dove sarà deposta una corona d’alloro al monumento ai caduti di tutte le guerre. Saranno presenti il sindaco di Città di Castello Luca Secondi accompagnato dal Gonfalone del Comune, autorità civili e religiose, associazioni militari e civili. Protagonisti della manifestazione saranno i bambini della scuola elementare
“La vecchia stazione” di San Secondo oltre ad alcuni ragazzi delle medie che in passato hanno frequentato la scuola della frazione. “Questa cerimonia – afferma Pierino Monaldi, orfano di guerra e presidente dell’Associazione Nazionale Famiglie Caduti e Dispersi in Guerra – Sezione di Città di Castello – deve servire non solo ad onorare chi ha sacrificato la propria vita, ma soprattutto a far conoscere ai giovani il nostro passato e far capire loro che la guerra porta solo morte e distruzione e per aiutarli a cercare soltanto la pace. Essendo un giorno festivo la scuola della frazione non può partecipare in modo ufficiale, ma gli insegnanti hanno preparato gli studenti in modo che siano i veri protagonisti di quest’iniziativa, alla quale invitiamo anche i loro familiari. I ragazzi di oggi saranno gli uomini di domani ed affidiamo loro il filo della memoria che vogliamo non sia mai spezzato, soprattutto ora che il filo diretto di chi ha vissuto quei tragici momenti sta scomparendo. Ho un sogno, pur sapendo che in realtà è un’utopia: quello che il sorriso di un bimbo non venga mai spento da una guerra che gli ha negato l’abbraccio del padre”.
